Songs and poetry to and about God

Satisfied by love,
Gazing and wondering,
How did I get here –
Among the lilies?

“For He is mine and I am His,
The God whom I adore.
My Father, Savior, Comforter,
Now and for evermore.”
C H Spurgeon

“At one time you did just what you felt like doing- not caring about others, not caring about God– The worse your life became and the less freedom you had. And how much different is it now as your life in God’s freedom, your lives healed and expansive in holiness.”
My Heart Belongs to You Jesus

My Lord, I love you more than words can say,
Your goodness and mercy take my breath away.
As I stand and look at all you’ve done,
There is no doubt that my heart you have won.
I could never repay the debt I owe,
No acts could compare to the love you show.
But let not my tears and trembling heart speak,
Of this love that runs so deep.
Let it show in all that I do,
That my heart belongs completely to you.
Finding You in the Silence –

Silence brings a passion
Burning beyond expression
Thinking of you in your majesty
Beholding you in your glory
My heart beats, hoping to connect
Finding you among the lilies
Wondering…
Can there be a greater joy than loving you?
Knowing the answer
Nothing more is desired.
You Are My Dwelling Place

D on’t ever leave me to my own ways
W ash away my failings, Lord
E ver so faithful and loving
L ive in me
L ife - real life
I n your presence
N othing requires words
G lory beyond imagining

P ulled close in your arms
L ovingly
A pprehending my heart
C aressing me into the reality of
E verlasting life
The Word, Sweeter Than Honey, Honey From The Comb

I feel so close to you, held in your hand
Your word it whispers love with no end
When I look to your eyes I can’t understand
Such love and compassion that is without end
I want you to hold me in your sweet embrace
To cover and hide me while I seek your face
I need to go onto higher ground
To push myself closer into this love I found
Your Word it whispers your sweet gentle touch
As my heart cries out, I love you so much!
Take me in closer to hear your heart pound
As your Word it whispers such a sweet gentle sound.
Psalm 42:8, MSG
“God promises to love me all day,
sing songs all through the night!
My life is God’s prayer.”

Thank You For Setting Me Free!

Never has anyone cared so much,
Never has anyone so deeply touched,
My heart and my life as you’ve been there for me.
When I look around, I can hardly believe!
You’ve done so much I couldn’t ask for more,
But yet, on my life your blessing you pour.
You are so wise, living and kind,
How did I manage to find a love so sublime?
You freed me from fears and restored me from death,
Never leaving me in want, always giving what’s best.
Thank you that all my faults you overlook.
Thank you that my life you so willingly took.
Thank you for all you do for me,
My Lord, My Savior, for setting me free!
A Conversation with God: A Love So Divine –

Precious Daughter, don’t you know,
How it is I love you so?
You are my daughter, created with much thought,
Just perfect for the purpose which you are sought.
I will be there to guide the way,
To hold you, teach you, and protect you from stray.
Just hold out your hand and trust in me,
Then my dear, wait and see.
Let go of the striving and trying to please,
You desire approval to feel at ease.
Your security is held tight in my hand,
As I’ve promised you daughter, the Promised Land.
Yes, of course I call you by name,
You’re uniquely separate and not the same.
Learn to be who you are,
With your own special gifts step out and apart.
Trust in my Word as I speak to you,
Remember that I will see you through.
Don’t let fear keep you away,
From all I have for you each day.
You are special in my eyes and I do care,
No matter the problem, I will be there.

Even when I stray so far, even when I pull apart?
Will you still love me, will you still care?
Can I count on you to be there??
With all this striving I get so lost,
I sin against you at such a high cost.
I push you away and do my own thing,
Then I can’t feel you near, my Lord, my King.
Your love is what I really need,
Your approval, to know that you are pleased.
To feel your heart beat with mine,
To feel your love that is so divine.

Precious daughter, as you well know,
I care for you and love you so.
I watch over you all your days,
Leading and guiding you in my ways.
I am not angry at you,
I love to see all that you do.
Learning to obey won’t happen in one day,
So let me wash your frets away.
You will get there in my time,
Let go into my love that is so divine!
Some thoughts on loving God and loving others –

My previous pastor, when she was alive, had a very intimate relationship with the Lord. She taught many sermons on abiding and living in the Spirit. She used to spend hours a day in her prayer room talking with God, praying and working on sermons. The scripture that most spoke to her heart was Psalm 42:1, “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.” She had an incredible passion for God.

When she went out of the country to minister, she would ask me to watch her house and check every room. She once had trouble with flooding while she was gone that created damage. I always looked forward to checking on her prayer room. I felt the presence of God so strong in that room every time I went in there. I sometimes would just stand in the middle of the room with tears streaming down my eyes. I so desired to have that kind of deep and intimate relationship with God.

I still do. Every day is a journey and a learning experience --how to live with God in my life; how to live my life for God; and, how to fellowship with him. I don’t want to fellowship with Him because I want something from Him. When I was young in the Lord and still struggled with much fear, I used to cling to His presence because it brought me security. It made me feel safe. Now I just want His company; I just want Him in every area of my life.

Life flows from having a relationship with God. Love flows from loving God. On our own, we have very little to give to others. But with God at the center of our life, we have an unlimited supply of everything that is needed for all God asks of us.

Love. Give everything of yourself. Not for what you can get out of it. Not wasting time on busy work without meaning. But living thoughtfully, with Christ at the center. Love, in all situations. Don’t separate parts of your life as secular - know you are called to love in everything. Unrestrained. Not with starts and stops but a continuous flow “fountain of love” that is available for all that need a drink. With no lusts or attached hooks - pure love. The love of devotion to Christ that has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Overcoming obstacles of fear and rejection.

That we may love much and love well!

More Conversations with God –

“But you, Israel, are my servant
You Jacob, my first choice
Descendants of my good friend Abraham
I pulled you in from all over the world,
Called you in from every dark corner of the earth,
Telling you, “you’re my servant, serving on my side.”
I’ve picked you. I haven’t dropped you –
Don’t panic. I’m with you.
There’s no need to fear for I’m your God,
I’ll give you strength, I’ll help you.
I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.”
Isaiah 41:8-10 (MSG)

“If you wake me each morning with the sound of your loving voice, I’ll go to sleep each night trusting in you; point out the road I must travel; I’m all ears, all eyes before you.
Save me from my enemies, God – you’re my only hope! Teach me how to live to please you, because you are my God. Lead me by your blessed Spirit into cleared and level pastureland. Keep up your reputation, God – give me life! In your justice, get me out of this trouble! In your great love, vanquish my enemies; make a clean sweep of those who harass me-
And why? Because I’m your servant.”
Psalm 143 (MSG)
Run The Race
(For the guy lost in God’s presence who sat in front of me during worship at church)

A chosen vessel consecrated to you
With passion in his heart he will run after you
When he is weary and the road is hard
He will push forward another yard
Not for anything the world has to give
But with his eyes on you, he will come forward and live
Laying it all down at the foot of your throne
Pouring it out with his eyes toward home.

You are the treasure worth it all
You are the One worth answering the call
To lay down our lives and pick up the cross
Running hard after you, not counting the cost

With love at the center of it all
We lay down our lives and answer the call
To give ourselves expecting nothing in return
In unrestrained love, for you our hearts burn.

Run the race before you now
His mighty hand will show you how
With strength and courage, passion in your heart
From his face let your eyes not part.
